MLB’s New Ultimatum, Matt Vasgersian Interview (Sports Talk Chicago / WCKG 5-22-20)

On today’s show, I examine Major League Baseball’s new ultimatum to players, and its ramifications on a possible 2020 season. Although the optics of this highly-publicized fight could not be worse, the players must stand in their ground, even if that means no MLB season this summer. I also caught up with Matt Vasgersian, voice of Sunday Night Baseball on ESPN and MLB Network studio host. We discussed the possibility of a 2020 season, and whether he would be in the stadium or in the studio for game broadcasts. We also talked about the Cubs’ and White Sox expectations come this year, and their offseason acquisitions. Later in the show, we also touched on his amazing career in sports media, the David Bote grand slam call, his time as a childhood actor, and the origin story behind “Santa Maria!”
